Dermal Lip Fillers

A set of symmetrical, full and shapely lips are one of the most desirable facial features. Shapley fuller lips accentuate your face and makes it more youthful and glamorous.  Even though everyone desires beautiful lips; not many are born with them. Also with age the lips lose their shape and volume making them look thin, flat and wrinkled. To overcome these issues people have relied on techniques like makeup, lip plumpers and dermal lip fillers. While makeup and lip plumbers are widely used, they are temporary solutions that don’t actually make your lips bigger. Lip Fillers on the other hand give you beautiful, fuller lips for a much longer time. Results from lip fillers last between six months to one year.

There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips, the most common fillers used today are products that contain Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid which is naturally present in human body and is found within the skin cells. It keeps the moisture in the skin making it supple and plump. This makes fillers safe treatment with minimal risks. The most important step in filling your lips is finding the right injector. Lips fillers should always be done by experienced hands to attain the desired lip shape and volume and to avoid correction. The procedure lasts about an hour and is virtually pain free. The degree of discomfort is defined by the skill of the injector.

5 Ways to Make Botox and Dermal Fillers Last Longer

As we age and time passes with the everyday small stresses in our lives, we tend to lose laxity in our skin and develop a more tired appearance. Self-care is important and with our busy lives we also need to maintain ourselves and look rested and rejuvenated. Dermal fillers and Botox when done right help preserve our facial volume; also prevent forehead lines, sunken jowls and tired eyes. Post the procedures we love the outcome and it is usually important to know how we can maintain the results for as long as we can.

  • Sunscreen: Sun protection is imperative as the UV rays can reduce the longevity of the dermal fillers and Botox. Sunscreen is always recommended post treatments and is great and an essential part of your regular skin care regime.
  • Less is more: Too much of anything is bad especially Botox, it should be done in just the right amounts as muscles can tend to get resistant to it. So too much of it is always bad.
  • Skin Care: A good skin care regime is a must, like a vitamin C serum, a good moisturiser. Avoid very abrasive scrubs and do it yourself peeling exfoliating masks. Drink plenty of water and Zinc supplements too help maintain the longevity of dermal fillers.
  • Exercise: Vigorous physical exercise also increases the rate of metabolism. Though exercise is great for us and can’t be avoided it reduces the life span of dermal fillers and Botox, in that case scheduling appointments before it wears out helps.
  • Facial Massages: Avoid facial massages and other facials which involve massaging the face as it causes quicker disappearance of fillers. It is also advised to sleep with high pillows as it reduces the blood flow to the face and helps keep the filler intact for longer.

Dermal fillers and Botox are unfortunately not permanent features but the last as long as 9-18 months. The results are natural and if done right make you look more rested, refreshed, and the outcome is long lasting along with adequate maintenance.

Choose Hyaluronic Acid fillers for smooth skin

Fillers are one of the easiest ways to restore youthfulness to your facial structure. It can wipe away wrinkles, add suppleness, and restore your skin, and is more cost effective and definitely less painful. In less than an hour you can get your youthful, fresh dewy skin back when you get a filler treatment done at your dermatologist’s.

While there are few types of fillers that the doctors today are using or recommending, but Hyaluronic Acid or HA fillers still remain one of the best and safest types, the others being collagen, and fat. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our body, it is easy for the body to accept doses from external sources. This also means that there are less chances of allergic reaction.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

It is a water retaining gel like molecule that acts as a cushioning agent in various parts of our bodies including joints, nerves, skin, and the under-eye area. The existence of Hyaluronic Acid was first discovered in 1934, when for the first time it was seen that even the elderly population in a village in Japan had smooth skin, flexible joints and healthy hair. It was attributed their diet rich in tofu and soya which signalled the body to make more hyaluronic acid which kept the joints, skin, and nerves well hydrated and lubricated.

How does this help skin?

On an average our body has 15 grams of HA, and half of that is located in the skin collagen. Hyaluronic acid has the capacity to retain large amount of water within the skin cell and boosting collagen and keeping the dermis and epidermis well-hydrated. So your skin looks supple, and is bouncy to the touch – the ideal way your skin should be. Research has shown that no other compound in our body can retain water like Hyaluronic Acid, and remove toxins from the skin as effectively. Sufficient amount of HA in your skin ensures it remains smooth and soft longer.

Why do you need the HA filler?

As you start to age, nearing your 40’s your skin starts to lose its ability to synthesise enough HA to sustain your skin. In effect you start to lose the benefits that HA has on your skin like fighting free radicals, retaining skin elasticity etc. So you will notice the appearance of fine lines, drooping of the skin, hollows under the eyes. That is when you can seek expert help in getting HA fillers to restore your skin’s suppleness and facial structure. It can used to give definition to your lips, hide wrinkles, brighten up the under eye areas, and define your nose. The two most popular brands of HA fillers available today are Juvederm and Restylane, which have fillers with different.

potency to give you the desired result. Get your filler work done at a dermatologist’s clinic and seek help from trained professionals.

Beauty Corner: Hydra Facial at Aayna

It was a hot June afternoon and my tanned face needed some pep. And at this time an invite from Dr Simal Soin to try the Hydra facial offered at her clinic Aayna was all that pep for my looks. While the facial is a 30-minute odd session, its results are tremendous. It makes your skin supple, shine and suddenly all my tan had vanished, even my dark circles under the eyes had reduced considerably. Now, you tend to experience this in any facial, but what makes hydra special?

The process includes five steps:

  • Cleansing and Exfoliation – Dead cells are gently removed to uncover smoother healthy skin
  • Peeling Serums – Gentle chemical peeling cleanses pores and improves pigmentation
  • Extractions – Painless, quick extraction of blackheads and whiteheads with a special vacuum tip
  • Hydration – Vortex fusion technology for deep penetration of antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, which help hydrate skin and reduce signs of aging
  • Protection – The Hydra facial range of products used during the treatment include a special sunscreen which looks invisible on skin and helps sustain and secure treatment results

Done by trained therapist, you don’t need to mess your clothes or even bother about how your hair would look later. It’s something that takes care of all your skin’s needs, says Dr Soin. If done on a regular basis, as in about a month’s time like a normal cream facial, it improves skin quality, texture and has an anti-ageing effect. It helps in regulating skin cycles, assists in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blocked up and enlarged pores, sensitive or acne-prone skin, brown spots and hyper pigmentation.

It touches the deepest layer of your skin to rejuvenate it and for two days, no threading, no soap and no going out without a sunscreen. And now it’s been more than a week for me and I still don’t have the tan. Best thing, it is suitable for all akin types, especially for acne-prone skin.

While getting to know about the Hydra, Dr Soin shared some more skin secrets. (This doctor from Patiala trained in UK—London and Cambridge–for dermatology and then opted for specialisation in cosmetic dermatology. She travels around the world for conferences and seminars to keep learning and sharing her learnings. She established the famous Three Graces in Delhi and Aayna is her new venture.)

Excerpts from the conversation:

Q.You offer a lot of treatments related to beauty and wellness such losing weight, anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle, foot clinic, medical facials and more.

We like people to look and feel good. Beauty is not skin deep. It is looking after yourself to feel good.

Q. Why are such treatments not found in hospitals as they are safe?

People like their privacy for looking beautiful. And we are happy to make them look beautiful where they wish to.

Q.What is the difference in treatments through German and US technology?

I use the US technology and I think it’s just wonderful. Good machines make all the difference in the treatment. It’s a quality versus quantity issue and for me quality rules. People do sometimes come and tell me that they have heard of someone offering a more competitive price for the treatments, but as I offer quality, I stick to what is better for the client in the long run. For instance I offer a treatment for anti-ageing called Thermage. This is really expensive and it reaches its peak in about six months as the collagen is stimulated. We cannot stop ageing but we can enjoy good skin at any time.

Q.Difference between serums, creams and gels…

Serums penetrate the deepest layer of the skin, creams a little less and gels are pleasant for surface use.

Q.You also have a salon…

Yes, it’s an aesthetic clinic; this gives people a chance to do get all their regular beauty treatment too.

Q.Who is your target clientele?

One and all. They all come with different problems and we offer customised solutions. We have even worked with children.

Q.What more comes under brand Aayna?

We hold workshops and individual sessions by the masters in Reiki, past life regression therapy, chakra balancing, hypnotherapy, tarot cards, pranic healing and meditation.

Tips to take care of your skin on a daily basis.

  • Use a sunscreen
  • Avoid smoking, it ages your skin
  • Take regular doses of Vitamin C
  • Use a gentle gel cleanser
  • Drink 6-7 glasses of water a day

Why visit Aayna?

I liked the ambience, the fact that it’s clean and serene. The technology is safe and Dr Soin an expert. You can trust her with the treatments and the therapists are polite. The treatment is well explained and you need to fill in some forms and are guided to what suits you best. And you come out looking beautiful! The place lives up to its promise.
